SHILLONG: The CEM of KHADC Ardent Basaiawmoit has come under criticism for the election of Syiem of Hima Malai Sohmat. Addressing a news conference on Thursday, former KHADC CEM, PN Syiem said that the style of functioning of Basaiawmoit is questionable as he is instrumental in changing the customary practices in the election of Syiem of Hima Malai Sohmat by inviting candidature from all the clans violating the tradition.
As far as the joint management of Mawpat pine plantation is concerned, PN Syiem said that the action of Basaiawmoit is discriminatory since executive committee of Dorbar was not consulted as the decision was taken by only the Syiem and some myntris.
The Opposition has also threatened to bring a no confidence motion against the Executive Committee led by Basaiawmoit on June 23 during the session.
