Two killed after falling into gorge in EKH

SHILLONG, March 30: Two youths lost their lives after falling into a deep gorge at Rapleng under Mawkynrew C&RD Block in East Khasi Hills on Sunday.
As per a late report, the two deceased have been identified as Rishan Rani (23) and Ericfortis Kharkongor (23), both residents of Langkyrding, Nongmensong.
A third youth, who was with them at the time of the incident, escaped unhurt.
On learning of the incident, a search and rescue team and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation. The bodies were finally recovered on Monday.
Providing details of the incident, police said the victims, along with a friend, had gone to the area for an outing and were sitting on a hilltop when one of their helmets accidentally rolled down into a gorge. While attempting to retrieve it, the two youths lost their footing and plunged into the deep gorge.
