SHILLONG: ANVC (B) has expressed its solidarity with the family members of late Josbina M Sangma.
In a statement issued here on Friday, ANVC (B) said that it is sad how Josbina’s children had to witness the gruesome incident.
Stating that Home Minister Roshan Warjri’s entry to Garo Hills is already too late on fact that many lives are lost due to deteriorating law and order situation, the ANVC (B) stated If she intervened earlier, things would have been better.
“Roshan Warjri can still justify her visit by meeting the family members of other victims and it is in her discretion either to restore peace through talks or to deteriorate the present situation using force,” ANVC (B) added.
According to the militant group, there are many organisations which include well trained ANVC (B) cadres who are desperately scattered at the moment and State Government’s continuous operation and failure to provide designated camps have forced them to return to jungle.
ANVC (B) also applauded the effort of a journalist who met late Josbina’s family and revealed the actual incident in certain regional daily.

ANVC (B) also pointed out that demands of various NGOs are genuine and an ex gratia of one lakh is too less. If Government thinks a precious life has been lost, treat it with genuine respect and sincerity fulfilling the demands of social organisations.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress in an emergent meeting under the leadership of the State President, Ebel M War, has condemned the incident that happened in Chokpot where a woman was shot by Garo Militant.
The North East Dialogue Forum has also sternly condemned the killing of a woman. In a statement issued here on Friday, the Forum said such heinous and savage act committed by some cadres of an insurgent group is highly condemnable by the society irrespective of caste and creed. “Indeed such act is against the International Humanitarian Laws including Geneva Convention. Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, relating to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, states that women shall be especially protected against any attack on their honour, in particular against rape, enforced prostitution, or any form of indecent assault.
