SHILLONG, April 14: Shillong Law College and St. Edmund’s School on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on legal education and awareness for school students.
The initiative aims to introduce young learners to fundamental legal concepts, including the Indian Constitution, fundamental rights, and civic responsibilities.
The curriculum will also cover specific areas such as child rights, cyber laws, and environmental regulations.
Under the agreement, Shillong Law College will provide academic support by deputing faculty members and legal professionals to conduct workshops, seminars, and guest lectures at St. Edmund’s School. These sessions are designed to provide students with practical insights into the legal system while encouraging critical thinking and informed decision-making.
The MoU, which will remain in effect for three years, reflects a shared effort to foster informed citizenship and create awareness about career opportunities in the field of law.
Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, empowering students to better understand their rights and responsibilities within society.
