KSU to elect new leadership on May 9; top posts uncontested

SHILLONG, April 17: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) will elect a new Central Executive Council (CEC) for the 2026-2029 term on May 9, marking the end of the leadership of president Lambostarwell Marngar and general secretary Donald V Thabah.
The election will be held at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw Pdeng, with polling scheduled from 7 am to 3 pm.
Raymond P Kharjana and Reuben A Najiar are set to be elected unopposed as President and general secretary, respectively. Current education secretary Pynkmenlang Sanmiet is also slated to be elected unopposed.

The Election Committee, comprising Danny M Khyriem and Samuel Jyrwa, completed the scrutiny of 38 candidates on Wednesday. While the top positions are uncontested, elections will be conducted for seven other key posts, including assistant general secretary, organising secretary, education secretary, information and publicity secretary, office secretary, sports and cultural secretary, and environment secretary.
The results will be declared after the counting of votes on May 9, paving the way for the new leadership to take charge.
