Shillong, April 21: A mesmerising spell of bowling by Aniesha Arengh (7/13) led Meghalaya to a 6-wicket victory against Sikkim in the 2nd North East Rising Cup 2026 for U-15 girls in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Sikkim were made to bat first after losing the toss and were all out for 59 in 18.2 overs (out of an allotted 35) as they were unable to cope with Aniesha’s excellent bowling.
Badphihirta Nonglait (1/5), Laviola Mary L Mawlong (1/14) and Onasa M Sangma (1/16) were the other wicket-takers.
Meghalaya then chased down the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 14.1 overs, with Mebalapynkmen Syiemlieh’s 14 being the top score.
The entire Meghalaya team wore black armbands to honour the memory of Mr Dister Marbaniang, who passed away last week.
Marbaniang was President of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association and had been Manager to many MCA teams in years gone by.
This tournament, aimed at promoting grassroots women’s cricket from the North East, is the initiative of the Assam Cricket Association.
