MAWKYRWAT, April 25: Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar on Friday inspected the water sources for five villages in the Manad area following complaints from the headmen of Manad and Mawbidong villages regarding supply issues.
Accompanied by senior officials from the PHE Mawkyrwat Division and village leaders, the MLA visited the Phot Umthot stream under Mawten village.
It is pertinent to note that the stream serves as the primary source for Manad, Mawbidong, Lummawbah, Pyndenlyngdoh and Pyndensohlang.
During the inspection, it was decided to immediately realign the pipelines and increase the height of the dam to ensure a steady water flow to Manad and Mawbidong.
Tongkhar noted that while Lummawbah, Pyndenlyngdoh and Pyndensohlang currently receive a 24-hour supply, the proposed technical changes are necessary to bring the other two villages to the same level.
“As three villages already receive a 24-hour water supply, I hope that by improving the source and changing the direction of the pipeline, Mawbidong and Manad will also receive the same,” Tongkhar said.
He also urged the residents of the affected villages to remain patient as the department works to resolve the problem.
