Fresh off his Oscar win, Michael B. Jordan is set to produce and potentially star in a big-screen adaptation of the popular video game franchise Battlefield.
The project will be written, directed, and produced by Christopher McQuarrie, best known for the recent Mission: Impossible films, with Electronic Arts (EA), the game’s publisher, also on board as a producer.
The film aims to launch a large-scale cinematic universe based on the long-running military shooter series, which began in 2002 with Battlefield 1942 and spans multiple historical and futuristic combat settings.
The most recent installment, Battlefield 6, was among the top-selling shooters of 2025.
Studios including Apple and Sony are reportedly competing for distribution rights, with a bidding war expected.
Previous adaptation attempts by Fox and Paramount in 2012 and 2016 did not move forward.
McQuarrie, an Oscar-winning writer of The Usual Suspects, recently directed Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
Jordan, meanwhile, is managing a busy slate following his Oscar win, including Thomas Crown Affair and Miami Vice ’85, further expanding his presence as both actor and producer in major Hollywood projects. (PTI)
