Shillong, April 26: St Alfred’s Secondary School successfully defended their Overall Champions title at the Ri-Bhoi District Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2026, which concluded on Friday after three days of intense competition.
The meet witnessed record participation, with 45 schools and around 1,350 athletes taking part across various age-group events, making it one of the biggest school athletics competitions in the district.Ritina Hanse received a memento in memory of her daughter, a talented Ri-Bhoi sportsperson who passed away last month.Apart from the overall championship trophy, awards were also presented across different age categories and gender divisions.
In the Under-14 category, MeECL Secondary School, Kyrdemkulai won the Best Team title in the girls’ section, while Nongsangu Secondary School claimed the boys’ honour.
For the Under-16 category, St Alfred’s Secondary School, Marngar emerged as Best Team among girls, while St Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh secured the boys’ title.In the Under-18 division, Nongtluh Higher Secondary School, Diwon won the girls’ Best Team award, while St Paul’s once again topped the boys’ category.
