TURA, April 28: Popular Garo YouTube channel ‘A’chik Rhythm’ has come under fire for allegedly dramatising a novel without the author’s authorisation.
The channel aired a dramatisation of the Garo novel Gamseng, written by Icylian R. Marak. The author has accused the channel of using her work for its own gain without seeking permission.
“The novel Gamseng is protected by copyright. Dramatising and uploading it illegally on social media without my knowledge or permission is a serious breach of intellectual property rights. This act of unauthorised appropriation, intellectual theft, and plagiarism will not be tolerated,” Marak said in a statement.
The author indicated that legal standards regarding copyright must be upheld.
