SHILLONG, May 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday inaugurated an ambulance and a mortuary van for Madanrting and announced a series of development measures for the locality.
Attending a programme organised by the Dorbar Shnong at St Peter’s Secondary School, the chief minister also felicitated meritorious students, Covid warriors, police personnel, sanitation workers, ASHA workers, and senior citizens. The event was attended by State Law Commission Co-Chairman Lambor Malniang, former Rajya Sabha MP Wansuk Syiem, and members of the Dorbar Shnong.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister lauded the Dorbar Shnong for procuring the vehicles, noting that the facilities would strengthen emergency response and ensure the dignified transportation of the deceased. He said that recognising contributions across all sections of society is vital, as appreciation has a meaningful impact regardless of the scale of achievement.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by the Dorbar Shnong, Sangma committed to improving local infrastructure, including the renovation of the Madanriting playground and the construction of a retaining wall for the community hall. He further assured the installation of streetlights and CCTV systems under the ‘My City Campaign’.
The chief minister also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from the CM’s Special Grant to support cultural and musical activities in participating local schools.
