SHILLONG, May 3: The Meghalaya government has targeted to finish the new Secretariat in New Shillong Township by September next year.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma is pushing hard to shift operations there on time. This modern hub will centralise administrative work and ease city traffic, official said.
Construction is in full swing, officials said, adding that physical progress stands at 47%. The third slab has been completed, with more floors rising fast.
The G+6 building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,188 crore. The foundation stone was laid on January 21, 2025.
Hectic efforts continue to meet the deadline. As the Secretariat nears completion, directions have been issued to fast-track the New Shillong Township Water Supply Scheme.
