Filmmaker Spike Lee has defended the biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua, against criticism for excluding child abuse allegations against Michael Jackson.
Lee said the film ends in 1988, before the accusations surfaced, and should not be judged on events outside its timeline.
He also praised Jackson’s legacy, saying he misses him and Prince.
Fuqua said the film focuses on Jackson’s early life and stage persona, describing him as a “superhero on stage,” and added that a sequel could later explore his controversies and allegations. (PTI)
