INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE | KOHLI CREATES HISTORY BY BECOMING FIRST TO CROSS 9,000 IPL RUNS

MATCH TODAY – DELHI CAPITALS VS CHENNAI SUPER KINGS AT 7:30 PM

Hyderabad, May 4: There are spells in T20 cricket that do not arrive with noise, but with control. Quiet, calculated, and decisive. On Sunday evening, Varun Chakravarthy delivered exactly that, steering Kolkata Knight Riders to a commanding win over Sunrisers Hyderabad and keeping their resurgence firmly on track.
Alongside the ever-reliable Sunil Narine, who returned figures of 2 for 31, Chakravarthy’s 3 for 36 ensured KKR’s spin duo dictated the tempo of the contest. Their combined figures of 5 for 67 in eight overs effectively shut the door on Hyderabad’s chase, underlining the importance of control through the middle overs. The turnaround, particularly for Chakravarthy, has been striking. After a difficult start to the season — including figures of 0 for 48 and 0 for 31 — and a brief injury layoff, the mystery spinner has rediscovered his rhythm. In his last four matches, he has claimed 10 wickets for 117 runs, playing a central role in KKR’s three consecutive victories following a string of setbacks earlier in the campaign.
Sunday’s spell, was not without its early challenges. Introduced after the Powerplay, Chakravarthy was initially put under pressure by Travis Head, conceding runs in his first over. Though he dismissed Head soon after, the over still proved expensive. Yet, what followed was a lesson in adaptation.Slowing his pace, altering his angles, and making better use of the crease, Chakravarthy tightened his grip on the game. (PTI)
