SHILLONG, May 5: The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the regularisation of 98 ad-hoc employees appointed before December 31, 2007.
MDA spokesperson Wailadmiki Shylla said that 55 of these employees are from the Health department. He clarified that the move will not burden the state exchequer, as the staff members are already serving in sanctioned posts and receiving pay and benefits at par with permanent government employees. The decision aims to formalise their status following procedural gaps in their initial appointments.
In administrative moves, the Cabinet approved service extensions for retired IAS officers Ram Mohan Mishra,
Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Investment Promotion Board, and Hector Marwein, Chairman of the Meghalaya Sustainable Development Council. The service tenure of Kynphambor Wahlang, Superintendent Engineer at the Directorate of Urban Affairs, was also extended.
On the revenue front, the Cabinet approved an amendment to Rule 375 of the Assam Excise Rule (as adapted by Meghalaya), concerning the levy of special duty on Bottle in Origin (BIO) products. This includes a revision of the import pass fee on Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) brought from outside the state, which has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 30 per bulk litre.
Other decisions included the amendment of Transit Rules under the Meghalaya Forest Regulation, 1973, and the adoption of service rules for officials of the Meghalaya Drugs Testing Laboratory.
