Rakkam welcomes tender for Rs 130-crore GH road project

SHILLONG, May 5: Rongara-Siju MLA and former Cabinet Minister Rakkam A Sangma has welcomed the issuance of the tender for the long-awaited Chokpot–Siju–Karukol road project, estimated at approximately Rs 130 crore.
In a statement on Tuesday, Sangma described the project as a major step toward improving regional connectivity and development under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. He noted that the investment will enhance access to essential services and unlock the tourism potential of areas such as Wari Chora, creating new livelihood opportunities and strengthening the local economy.
Lauding the state government and the concerned departments for addressing the long-standing demand, the MLA expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.
He also assured his full support to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the project for the benefit of the public.
