Tagore’s 165th birth anniv celebrated in Shillong; book on Brookside released

SHILLONG, May 9: A multi-lingual cultural programme was held here to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
The event was organised by the Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Principal Secretary of Arts and Culture, F.R. Kharkongor, attended the function as the chief guest, while ICCR Regional Director N. Munish Singh and Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari were guest of honour and special guest respectively.
A highlight of the occasion was the release of a book titled ‘Brookside’, which chronicles the history of the iconic Brookside bungalow. Authored by Uma Purkayastha, the book was formally launched by the chief guest.
