SHILLONG, May 12: The Meghalaya government has partnered with Oxford Policy Management (OPM) India to implement an Annual Health Survey aimed at strengthening public health planning through data-driven policy interventions.
The agreement was formalised between the State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Meghalaya, and OPM India in the presence of National Health Mission (NHM) Mission Director Ramakrishna Chitturi. The document was signed by SHSRC State Nodal Officer Dr. Valerie Laloo and Prabal Vikram Singh, Country Director (India and Bangladesh) for Oxford Policy Management.
Oxford Policy Management is an international consultancy that provides research-based policy support and governance expertise to governments globally.
The survey is designed as a mechanism for continuous population-level health analytics. It will assist the state in tracking emerging public health challenges, identifying disparities across districts, and assessing the progress of existing healthcare schemes.
Beyond data collection, the exercise is expected to improve accountability in service delivery and ensure more responsive resource allocation. By generating periodic, localised health evidence, the government aims to design interventions tailored to the specific needs of communities across the state.
This collaboration is part of Meghalaya’s broader initiative to institutionalise monitoring, evaluation, and data-driven governance within the public health sector.
