Pakistan minister meets Iranian counterpart amid Islamabad’s mediation efforts in US-Iran conflict

Islamabad, May 16: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday held talks with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran on bilateral ties and regional developments amidst Islamabad’s mediation efforts to end the US-Iran conflict, according to a media report.
Pakistan hosted the talks between the US and Iran last month but they failed to bridge the differences and a second round is still pending even as the two sides have been exchanging peace proposals through Islamabad.
Naqvi, who reached Tehran earlier in the day for a two-day official visit, was received at the airport by his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Mo’meni, Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim said.
The two interior ministers held a bilateral meeting during which they engaged in detailed discussions on Iran-Pakistan relations and the prospects for the resumption of peace negotiations, the news agency said. (PTI)
