Imphal, May 25: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse on Monday said the National Sports University (NSU) in Imphal is set to become a landmark institution in shaping the future of Indian sports through science, research, innovation and excellence.

The minister also observed training sessions, including warm-up drills, endurance exercises and sport-specific practice routines, while encouraging athletes to continue striving for excellence and bring laurels to the country at the international level.
Spread across nearly 325 acres, the NSU campus is nearing completion with around 95 per cent of the construction work already finished. Khadse reviewed key facilities being developed, including academic complexes, laboratories, sports science centres, residential hostels, library and auditorium facilities.
She noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has witnessed significant investment in sports infrastructure, athlete development and sports education, adding that the university would play a major role in strengthening the country’s sports ecosystem.Later, the minister also visited the Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence in Imphal, where she reviewed sports science and athlete support facilities available for elite and emerging athletes from the Northeast region.
As India continues to push for greater success on the global sporting stage, the development of institutions like the National Sports University is expected to play a crucial role in nurturing future athletes, coaches and sports scientists.
