Manoj Bajpayee on Wednesday expressed hope that the ongoing controversy involving Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over Don 3 would be resolved soon.
Speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Governor in Mumbai, Bajpayee said members of the film fraternity were learning about the issue mainly through social media and did not have complete information about the developments. He added that, as colleagues, everyone hoped the matter would be sorted out amicably.
The controversy intensified after FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, alleging that the actor failed to respond to repeated notices asking him to appear before the organisation regarding his exit from Don 3. Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar had reportedly approached the body, stating that nearly Rs 45 crore had already been spent on the film’s pre-production and that Singh’s sudden withdrawal could cause major financial losses.
Ranveer Singh later responded through his spokesperson, saying he chose to remain silent out of respect for the franchise and believed professional matters should be handled with “dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, Governor, inspired by India’s 1990 financial crisis, is set for release on June 12, 2026. (ANI)
