New Delhi, May 30: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and briefed him on the progress and priorities of the BJP-led NDA government in the state. Taking to X after the meeting, Sarma said he was “honoured” to call upon the Prime Minister and discuss Assam’s development trajectory under the NDA 3.0 government.
“Honoured to call upon Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in New Delhi today. I briefed him on the headstart we are making in the NDA 3.0 Govt in Assam, thanked him for his unstinted support and sought his continued blessings and guidance in the coming years,” the Chief Minister posted on X. According to sources, the meeting focused on key developmental initiatives being undertaken by the Assam government, infrastructure expansion, investment proposals and implementation of various welfare schemes in the state.
The Chief Minister is understood to have apprised the Prime Minister of the state government’s efforts to accelerate economic growth, improve connectivity and strengthen social sector programmes in line with the Centre’s vision of “Viksit Bharat”. The interaction also assumes significance as the BJP-led government in Assam has intensified its push for industrial investments, rural infrastructure and employment generation ahead of major policy initiatives expected in the coming months.
Sarma has repeatedly credited the Prime Minister’s support for the rapid transformation witnessed in Assam over the last few years, particularly in sectors such as roads, railways, healthcare, education and semiconductor investments. Under the NDA government, Assam has witnessed a series of infrastructure projects, including highway expansion, railway modernisation and new investments in the energy and technology sectors.
Officials said that the meeting reflects close coordination between the Centre and the Assam government on developmental priorities and governance issues concerning the northeastern region. The Chief Minister has been actively engaging with Union ministers and central agencies in recent weeks to push forward several strategic projects linked to the state’s long-term economic roadmap.
