East Khasi Hills yogasana championship draws 46 participants

Shillong, May 31: The 6th East Khasi Hills District Level Yogasana Sports Championship 2026 was held on Saturday at Bangiya Sahitya Parisad, Jail Road, Shillong, bringing together aspiring young athletes from across the district.
The championship was organised by the East Khasi Hills District Yogasana Sports Association in association with the Meghalaya Yogasana Sports Association, with support from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya.
The event was conducted with the objective of identifying and nurturing grassroots-level talent for participation in upcoming state and national-level Yogasana competitions.
As part of the talent identification programme, selection and talent search activities were carried out throughout the month in various localities across the district. The district-level championship served as the culmination of these efforts, providing a platform for promising athletes to demonstrate their skills.
A total of 46 boys and girls participated in the championship, showcasing their flexibility, balance, strength and discipline through various Yogasana performances.
Organisers expressed satisfaction with the response to the event and reiterated their commitment to promoting Yogasana as a competitive sport while creating opportunities for young athletes to excel at higher levels.
