SHILLONG, June 3: Construction of IT Park Phase II is nearing completion, with the project recording 96 per cent physical and 94 per cent financial progress.
The main Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) component, valued at Rs 121.09 crore, has reached 97 per cent physical progress, indicating that the bulk of the work is finished. Meanwhile, the IT Park project in Tura has achieved 75 per cent physical and financial progress.
The state government expects these infrastructure projects to generate approximately 22,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across three tech parks in Meghalaya.
Phase I of the Shillong Tech Park is already operational, accounting for 1,500 direct and 4,500 indirect jobs. Phase II, slated for completion by December this year, is projected to create 3,000 direct and 9,000 indirect positions. Additionally, the Tura Tech Park is expected to provide 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect employment opportunities.
The expansion is intended to strengthen the state’s digital infrastructure, attract IT investment, and create local employment.
