Toronto, June 4: Co-hosts Canada will begin their first-ever home FIFA World Cup campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12 as Group B action gets underway. The group also features Qatar and Switzerland, with the latter entering as the highest-ranked side.
CANADA
Canada are aiming for a first World Cup win and a place in the knockout rounds after returning to the tournament in 2022 following a 36-year absence. Under coach Jesse Marsch, the Canadians have developed into an energetic, high-pressing side built around quick transitions and attacking football.
Veterans such as Cyle Larin provide experience, while a passionate home crowd could prove a major advantage. However, Canada will need contributions beyond star man Alphonso Davies if they are to progress.
