Kohima: The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), representing the ten tribes of the state, has called for a 12-hour bandh in Dimapur from 6 AM Monday.
The bandh has been called as the meeting betwwen NFHRCC and Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) on Foothill Road Construction of the state government failed to arrive at a workable solution during a meeting held in Kohima on Saturday, NFHRCC Convener Supu Jamir said on Sunday.
NFHRCC members were disappointed that they had walked out of the meeting before it concluded, he said.
NFHRCC has expressed dissatisfaction with the Public Welfare Department (Road and Bridges) for altering its stands “every now and then” on the contract works for the foothill roads, Jamir said.
Jamir said that the committee has made it very clear to the CSC that it was not against the government or the department but was only appealing to honour the assignment given to them with regard to the construction of motorable road.
Meanwhile, CSC constituted by the state government to act as a facilitator between NFHRCC and the State Department of Roads and Bridges has appealed to the NFHRCC to call off its bandh call.
The CSC includes Home Minister Y Patton, Health Minister P Longon, Agriculture Minister Dr Benjongliba, RD Minister CL John and Power Minister Kipili Sangtam. (PTI)
