Jiva Cares distributes over 800 saplings in Shillong

SHILLONG, June 6: Jiva Cares organised a free sapling distribution drive at the Old Assembly Bus Stand here on Friday to mark World Environment Day and encourage community participation in environmental conservation.
According to a statement here, more than 800 fruit-bearing and ornamental saplings were distributed among the public, including Jacaranda, Erythrina, Magnolia, Camellia, Hibiscus, Bottle Brush, Peach, Plum, Orange and Pear.
The event saw active participation from residents, students and environmental enthusiasts.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of Jiva Cares emphasised the importance of collective action in preserving the environment and encouraged citizens to plant and nurture trees for future generations.
“Jiva Cares remains committed to serving the community through meaningful social and environmental initiatives that contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Shillong,” the statement said.
