NEW DELHI: The Indian national team’s preparatory camp for the Asian Games kicked-off in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The boys who are assembling in Bangalore will commence training under coach Wim Koevermans from Wednesday.

The camp in Bangalore kicks-off a preparatory process of two and half months where the squad will also be proceeding on a two-week exposure tour to Europe besides another exposure tour in the Far East from mid-August.

In addition, there are two matches with the Pakistan U-23 team on August 17 and 20 in Bangalore as part of a friendly series.

Koevermans feels he would be able to “work on teamwork and football fitness” during the period.

“It’s good to have the boys for two and a half months. We will be able to build on Teamwork and the Football fitness as well,” he told .the-aiff.com. “We will also be able to work on the manner and style we want to play,” he added.

Sunil Chhetri, Robin Singh and Francis Fernandes are the three senior players who have been named in the squad. The rest of the team comprises U-23 players. (Agencies)
