Two young women from South Garo Hills have brought pride to Meghalaya by winning major titles at the 2nd Glamorous India International 2026 pageant held at Film City, Mumbai. Their success has not only earned them national recognition but has also highlighted the growing presence of contestants from Meghalaya and the Northeast in national beauty competitions.
Beauty N. Sangma, hailing from Jadi in Nangalbibra, was crowned Miss Glamorous India International 2026 after competing against participants from across the country. Her victory was made even more special by her efforts to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Garo community. During the grand finale, she appeared in a traditional Dakmanda paired with Rigitok ornaments, proudly representing her roots and drawing attention to Meghalaya’s unique traditions.
Another talented contestant from the district, Nurmia M. Marak of Gasuapara, secured the Miss Teen Grand title. The achievement adds to an already impressive list of accolades for the young pageant contestant. Nurmia had earlier won the Fashion Icon title at Miss Northeast Spark 2024 and was also named Brand Ambassador at Miss Glamorous Northeast, establishing herself as a promising talent in the pageant circuit.
The competition featured several rounds, including traditional wear and western wear segments, where contestants were judged on their confidence, personality, stage presence and communication skills. Both Beauty and Nurmia impressed the judges with their performances and emerged as winners in their respective categories.
Their achievements have been widely celebrated in South Garo Hills and across Meghalaya, with many viewing their success as an inspiration for aspiring young women in the region. The victories also underscore the increasing recognition of Northeast India’s talent on national platforms.
As winners of the prestigious titles, both Beauty and Nurmia have qualified to participate in the international round of the pageant in Dubai.
They are expected to represent India on the global stage, carrying with them the culture, traditions and aspirations of Meghalaya while inspiring others to pursue excellence in their chosen fields.
