SHILLONG, June 13: The Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Social Forestry Division, on Saturday organised a tree plantation drive at the Audit and Accounts Estate in Motinagar.
Held under the national theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” the drive saw the planting of approximately 150 saplings across the residential campus. The event was led by PAG Lhunkhothang Hangsing and District Forest Officer H. Lato.
The initiative follows the campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage citizens to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers. Officials noted that the project combines environmental conservation with a symbolic honour for the nurturing role of mothers, contributing to a sustainable future for the next generation.
Senior officials in attendance included Dhanlaxmi Chourasia (Sr. DAG), Rupak Saha (Sr. DAG), Aquarius Mathew, and Mohammad Ziaul Hoque, along with the staff of the estate.
