SWGH Police continues with its outreach programmes

AMPATI: Even as the police is trying its best in prevention and detection of crimes, South West Garo Hills police feels that the presence of police itself creates confidence among the public. With this view in mind, various efforts are being made by the district police to fill the visibility gap and Public Outreach Programme is one of them.

Through this programme, police teams along with the officials of other departments are visiting different interior villages and giving the service and bringing the administration near to the door steps of the common man.

The program is being initiated the Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh and Superintendent of Police, R.Muthu, with the involvement of various department, which began with the tree plantation drive in the district involving the Forestry department and the IBDLP.

As a part of the outreach programme, a water purifier was presented to the Sacred Heart Convent, Ampati on Friday last, by the Additional SP, L. Sangma on behalf of the district police.

On the same day, the district police along with the Medical department organized a free medical camp at Rangsakona and at Babelapara on Saturday. Friendly football matches were also organized in both the places in coordination with the District Sports Officer and District School Education Officer.

A large number of public benefited from the medical camps, while trained referee from the Sports department helped the youths in the villages who participated in the football match to learn about the rules. The heads of schools, teachers, the Nokmas, public and the youths all extended positive response to these programmes and at the same time appreciated the efforts of the district administration.
