
On International Day of Yoga, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor highlighted yoga’s deep cultural roots, calling it an integral part of India’s heritage.
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, he described yoga as a practice that unites mind, body, and soul, helping improve flexibility, strength, and overall physical and internal health.
He said it is a holistic discipline that supports mindfulness, discipline, and well-being, and noted the large participation of children at the event.
Akshay Kumar also joined Yoga Day celebrations in Mumbai, performing various asanas alongside Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and other participants.
The annual event, observed on June 21 since 2015 following a UN resolution, continues to grow globally under themes promoting health, wellness, and active ageing.
This year’s focus highlights yoga’s role in physical and emotional well-being across all age groups.
Actor Shilpa Shetty praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating yoga’s global recognition and supporting initiatives like the Fit India Movement.

She said yoga’s Indian origins should be a source of pride and encouraged people to adopt it as a daily lifestyle rather than a one-day practice.
She emphasized yoga’s benefits for both mental and physical fitness, calling it a way to achieve balance, positivity, and focus.
Shilpa also urged citizens to collectively support the vision of a healthier India and is set to lead a public yoga session in Gurugram.The celebrations across India and abroad reaffirmed yoga’s growing global influence and its role in promoting holistic well-being and healthy ageing.
