SHILLONG, June 22: The Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) has sought clarification from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the permissibility of holding multiple positions across different cricket bodies, raising questions over the roles currently held by Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) Apex Council member Mark Ingty.
In a communication recently forwarded to the BCCI through MCA Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni, the SCA requested guidance on whether an individual can simultaneously hold positions in different cricket associations and administrative structures under the existing constitutional and governance framework. The query pertains to Mark Ingty, who is understood to be serving as Joint Secretary of the Cricket Association of West Karbi Anglong, an affiliate of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA).
The SCA further stated that Ingty is also serving as a selector within the Assam cricket set-up while continuing as a member of the Apex Council of the Meghalaya Cricket Association.
In its letter, the SCA sought clarification on whether the simultaneous holding of these positions is permissible under the BCCI Constitution and other applicable regulations governing cricket administration in the country.
The association also requested the BCCI to clarify whether such an arrangement requires disclosure, approval or examination under conflict-of-interest provisions and governance principles applicable to state cricket associations and their office-bearers.
The SCA stressed that the communication should not be construed as a complaint or allegation against Ingty or any other individual.
Instead, it stated that the clarification was being sought purely to ensure compliance with the constitutional and regulatory framework governing cricket administration.
According to the letter, the objective is to obtain guidance from the BCCI on the interpretation of the relevant rules and to promote transparency and good governance within cricket administration.
