Shillong, June 22: The Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) will organise a 10-kilometre run for men and women on June 27 as part of the celebrations marking Olympic Day 2026.
According to a release issued by MSOA secretary Finely Pariat, the event will be flagged off by two of Meghalaya’s international athletes — karate exponent Damang Syngkon and athlete Beningstar Lyngkhoi.The run is scheduled to begin at 6 am from the Shillong Sports Association Stadium. Participants have been instructed to report at the venue by 5 am to complete the necessary formalities before the start of the event.
The organisers informed that T-shirts and chest numbers will be distributed to all registered participants prior to the flag-off.
Athletes and runners have been requested to arrive on time to avoid any inconvenience.The Olympic Day Run is held annually to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, while encouraging people of all ages to participate in sports and physical activities.
A large number of runners, sports enthusiasts and members of the sporting community are expected to take part in the event, which forms part of the global celebrations commemorating the founding of the modern Olympic Movement.
The organisers expressed hope that the event will attract participants from across age groups and backgrounds, reinforcing the message that sport and physical activity are essential for a healthy lifestyle.
