Alka Yagnik gets Padma Bhushan

Veteran singer Alka Yagnik has been conferred with the Padma Bhushan in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian music.
President Droupadi Murmu confer the Padma Awards 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Known for her melodious voice and versatility, Yagnik has sung songs in multiple Indian languages and remains one of the most successful playback singers in the history of Indian cinema.
Born in Kolkata into a family with a musical background, Yagnik began singing at a young age. She rose to prominence with songs in films such as Tezaab, where her chartbuster Ek Do Teen became a nationwide sensation.
Over the years, Yagnik delivered several iconic songs across genres, lending her voice to memorable tracks like Choli Ke Peeche from Khalnayak, Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se from Dhadkan, Hum Tum from Hum Tum, Ghoongat Ki Aad Se from Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, among others.
Her extensive body of work earned her numerous accolades, including multiple Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and several prestigious honours from the Indian music and film industry.

Madhavan honoured with Padma Shri; Mammootty receives Padma Bhushan

It’s a special day for actor R Madhavan and Veteran actor Mammootty as President Droupadi Murmu felicitated the former with the prestigious Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan award to the latter at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II.
Madhavan received the award from the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of his wife, Sarita, and son, Vedaant. As he walked onto the stage to accept the honour, the duo stood up and applauded with pride. Reacting to the honour, he dedicated the award to his family, crediting their unwavering support and faith in him as the foundation of his achievements.
Veteran actor Mammootty was conferred the Padma Bhushan award, one of India’s highest civilian honours, recognises his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema, especially the Malayalam film industry.
The 74-year-old Mathilukal star received the award at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, among other distinguished dignitaries.

Satish Shah conferred Padma Shri posthumously

Actor Satish Shah, who passed away last year, was on Tuesday conferred Padma Shri posthumously for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and entertainment. His brother Arvind Mamania received the award from President Droupadi Murmu at the function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Satish Shah was named for the award alongside distinguished individuals from the fields of art, education, sports, and various other disciplines. Shah passed away on October 25 last year, leaving a lasting mark on Indian cinema and television. He is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah. (ANI)
