London, June 23: Former England batter Kevin Pietersen has questioned England’s much-debated “Bazball” approach following their crushing 253-run defeat to New Zealand cricket team in the second Test at The Oval.
England had entered the series hoping to bounce back from a disappointing Ashes campaign and appeared to be on track after winning the opening Test at Lord’s. However, New Zealand dominated the second Test to level the series, exposing several of the issues that have plagued England in recent months. The hosts were also without captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson, both of whom were serving one-match suspensions. Their absence was keenly felt as England struggled to compete with the visitors across all departments.
Reacting to the defeat, Pietersen suggested that criticism of England’s aggressive playing style was inevitable. (Agencies)
