Tourist facilitation centre at Katta Beel handed over to Katta Beel Fishery Cooperative Society

Ampati, June 24,: The Tourist Facilitation Centre at Katta Beel, developed under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, was formally handed over to the Katta Beel Fishery Cooperative Society on Wednesday for operation and maintenance. The handover was conducted by Shri Sanjay A. Sangma, Hon’ble MLA of 54-Mahendraganj Assembly Constituency (ST) during a ceremony held at Katta Beel in South West Garo Hills.
The event was attended by Kum. Anendya Raajshree, IAS, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Tourism Promotion Society, South West Garo Hills, Smt. Torali K. Marak, MCS, Block Development Officer, Zikzak C&RD Block, Shri Collin Jeffrey Ch. Marak, Tourist Officer, South West Garo Hills, members of the Katta Beel Fishery Cooperative Society, local leaders, and residents.
As part of the programme, the key and certificate of the Tourist Facilitation Centre were officially handed over to the Katta Beel Fishery
Cooperative Society, entrusting it with the responsibility of managing and maintaining the facility. The initiative is expected to strengthen tourism promotion in the district while generating livelihood opportunities for the local community through community-led management.
Addressing the gathering, Sanjay A. Sangma emphasized the importance of preserving and effectively utilizing tourism assets for sustainable development. He urged the cooperative society and local stakeholders to work collectively to ensure that the facility is maintained properly and contributes to the growth of tourism in the region.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Katta Beel Fishery Cooperative Society delivered the welcome address. The Deputy Commissioner also spoke on the significance of the project and the role of local communities in ensuring the long-term success of tourism infrastructure created under government schemes.
The Tourist Facilitation Centre was established under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Tourism aimed at developing integrated tourism infrastructure and enhancing visitor experiences across the country.
