Man stabbed

Bhalang Dkhar lodged a complaint on June 20 that one Poly Dkhar (56) fatally stabbed his uncle Ridmel Dkhar (52) at Ïawpynsin, Wahiajer, WJH, and fled away.

Threat

A female resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on June 19, she received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller demanded to repay the loan, which the complainant did not take. Further, the caller also sent her WhatsApp messages, containing her personal details, including images of her PAN card, Aadhaar card and personal images, and also threatened to share the same to her relatives and others, if she failed to repay the alleged loan.

House vandalised

Bikram Baidya lodged a complaint that on May 17, one Mitton Suklabaidya forcibly entered into his rented house in Shillong, ransacked/vandalised the house. The complainant also stated that the accused had instigated his landlord into chasing him out of the rented house and that Rs. 40,000 was found missing from his house.

Cyberfraud

Banshan Nongrum lodged a complaint on June 23 that unknown miscreant(s) hacked his WhatsApp account and also sent messages demanding money from all his contacts in his name.

Fraud

Rangkame K Sangma, Nokma of Chidaret A’king, NGH, lodged a complaint on June 24 against one Arjitson K Sangma, accusing him of fraudulently obtaining and using the Nokma letter pad issued by GHADC, without her knowledge.
A female resident of a locality in Tura, WGH, lodged a complaint that on May 31 around 11.19 am, she received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller introduced himself as an official of SBI and informed that on the need to register/update her credit card, to which she complied and shared her personal and card details, etc. However, the complainant later found that unauthorised transaction took place from her credit card/bank account without her consent.

Break-in

Debojit Dutta lodged a complaint that on the night of June 22, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the PMG’s quarter at Oakland Postal Enclave, Shillong, damaged the electrical switches, sanitary fittings, geysers, etc., and also stole electrical wires.
Probha M Sangma lodged a complaint that on the night of June 21, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the premises of St. James LP School, Tura, WGH, and stole one LPG cylinder and two stoves.

Two-wheeler missing/found

Secretary, Pyrdiwah village, EKH, verbally reported that the Dorbar Shnong along with the VDP members detected one motorcycle without registration number at the village and handed over the same to Police.
Tengsil A Sangma lodged a complaint that on June 19, his motorcycle (AS-14H-7980) was missing from Rongram Bazar, WGH.
On June 22, Coy Commander, C-Coy, 4th Bn., BSF, BOP Muktapur, WJH, lodged a complaint that on June 21 around 8.40 pm, BSF personnel on duty intercepted one scooter (ML-04D-7800) from a place near BP No. 1284/7-S, which was reportedly meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh. However, the unidentified miscreant(s) managed to escape.

Drug seizure

On June 22 around 11:30 am, acting on inputs, ANTF Shillong along with police personnel apprehended one suspected drug peddler, viz. Sabina Begum (21), from the residence of one woman at Lum Survey area, Shillong, and recovered/seized 47 vials containing 16.1 grams of suspected heroin, which Begum had allegedly hidden in the residence of one Monowara Khatun. During enquiry, police learnt that Begum had received the suspected drugs from one Viru Singh (38). Later, police also apprehended Singh from Punjabi Lane, Shillong.

Cattle recovered

Post Commander, C-Coy, BSF, BOP Hawai-Tilla, WJH, lodged a complaint that on June 19 around 10.30 pm, BSF detected/recovered twelve head of abandoned cattle from a place near BP No. 1287/3-S, WJH.
Coy Commander, E-Coy, 22nd Bn., BSF, lodged a complaint that on June 20 around 4.20 pm, BSF detected movement of suspected unidentified miscreant(s) in the jungle area along the international border in South West Garo Hills. Later, BSF recovered fourteen heads of abandoned cattle from the place. However, the miscreant(s) managed to escape.
In-charge, Coy Commander, E-Coy, 22nd Bn., BSF, lodged a complaint on June 21 that BSF detected two suspected Bangladeshi nationals/miscreants, near the international border fence area in South West Garo Hills. However, the miscreants managed to escape and BSF recovered five head of abandoned cattle from the place.

Arson

Police received information that on June 20 around 2.15 am, unknown miscreant(s) hurled petrol bombs at two trucks (TR-05H-1822 and TR-05E-1700) at a place under Dawki Police Station, WJH. However, the truckers along with the local residents of the area doused the fire and no casualty was reported.

B’deshi national held

On June 20, acting on inputs, police apprehended one suspected Bangladeshi national, viz. Babu Sheikh alias Motibur Rahman (35) from Jewali area, WGH.

Investment fraud

A male resident of a locality in Tura, WGH, lodged a complaint that he came across one advertisement on ‘Instagram’ regarding gaming and investment in the website ‘www.funningstar.com’ with high returns. The complainant further stated that he initially earned high returns for his investment. However, at later stage, between the month of March and June, 2026, when he attempted to withdraw some amount after investing larger amount, he found that his bank account was blocked and access was denied to his bank account as well as the invested money, leading to a loss of Rs. 2,49,501.
