SHILLONG, June 29: Congress leader Gerald Shullai, along with his supporters from the Shillong West constituency, joined the National People’s Party (NPP) on Saturday.
The induction ceremony, held at Lama Villa, was attended by several senior leaders of the ruling party. Shullai was formally welcomed by National People’s Women Front president Grace Kharpuri, party spokesperson HM Shangpliang, and Shillong City secretary Emlang Lytan.
Party leaders expressed confidence that Shullai’s entry would strengthen the NPP’s presence in Shillong West and other urban areas. They added that the move is part of the party’s strategy to consolidate its support base ahead of the upcoming Shillong Parliamentary by-election.
