Dubai, June 29: India retained the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings despite suffering a shocking 2-0 series defeat to Ireland, while the hosts climbed one place following their historic triumph.
Ireland completed a memorable clean sweep with a one-run victory in the second T20I on Sunday, securing their first-ever bilateral series win over India and their first series triumph against a Full Member nation since defeating Zimbabwe in 2023.
The result saw Ireland move up from 12th to 11th in the ICC rankings after gaining six rating points to reach 205, overtaking Zimbabwe and closing the gap on 10th-placed Afghanistan (220).
India, meanwhile, lost three rating points, dropping from 275 to 272. However, the reigning T20 World Cup champions remain comfortably at the top of the standings, holding a 10-point lead over second-placed England (262), whom they will face in a five-match T20I series beginning July 1.
Australia occupy third place with 260 rating points, followed by New Zealand (247) and South Africa (244) to complete the top five. (Agencies)
