AMPATI, July 3: As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls gathers pace in South West Garo Hills, women Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are taking the lead in spreading voter awareness, especially in rural communities where their outreach has become instrumental to the exercise.
As part of the campaign, women BLOs are conducting awareness meetings in villages to educate voters about the objectives and procedures of the SIR exercise whilst encouraging eligible citizens to verify and update their electoral details.
The outreach programme aims to ensure that every eligible voter is aware of the revision process and actively participates in maintaining an accurate and inclusive electoral roll.
Officials said that the dedication, professionalism and community-oriented approach of the women BLOs have helped build confidence among voters and improve public understanding of the electoral process.
Their efforts are not only empowering citizens through electoral awareness but are also strengthening grassroots participation in democratic processes, the officials added.
The district administration has, meanwhile, appreciated the commitment of the women BLOs and reiterated its resolve to ensure maximum voter awareness and participation during the ongoing SIR exercise across the district.
