MUMBAI, July 7: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched an investigation after a video showing a middle-aged man assaulting a woman on the railway tracks at Dadar railway station went viral on social media, an official said on Tuesday.
According to the official, the incident took place on Monday afternoon.
Police examined CCTV footage and found that the man and the woman were at the railway station for nearly three hours before the incident. They left the station for some time and, after returning, got into an argument that escalated into the assault.
Afterwards, both of them boarded a local train and left together.
Efforts are underway to trace the duo. Appropriate legal action will be taken after recording the woman’s statement, the official said. Last month, a 22-year-old man, identified as Mayank Lohar, was stabbed to death inside a moving first-class local train following an altercation. (PTI)
