Shillong, July 9: The Shillong unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a marathon on Wednesday to mark National Students’ Day and celebrate the organisation’s Foundation Day, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and youth across the city.
Despite persistent morning rain, participants turned out in large numbers, reflecting their enthusiasm for fitness, discipline and the spirit of nation-building promoted by the student organisation.In the boys’ category, Hasebinson Marwein secured first place, followed by Rangkijonathan Pathaw in second and Junom Phawa in third. In the girls’ category, Larijanai Wartde emerged champion, while Ibashongkun Kurbah and Dajes Syiemsad finished second and third respectively.
The winners were presented with cash prizes, mementoes and certificates.Addressing the gathering, Salony Bareh, Vice-President of ABVP Meghalaya, highlighted the organisation’s role in promoting leadership, character building, educational reforms and social service.
