SHILLONG, July 11: The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday acknowledged the slow pace of implementation of several flagship central government schemes in the state, stressing that their execution must be significantly expedited to ensure timely delivery of benefits to the people.
State BJP General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna said the party believes there is an urgent need to accelerate the rollout of key welfare and development programmes, particularly in critical sectors such as rural connectivity, drinking water supply, housing for the urban poor, healthcare, nutrition and livelihood generation.
He said while the Centre has launched several schemes aimed at improving the quality of life and boosting socio-economic development, the benefits have not reached all eligible beneficiaries in Meghalaya at the desired pace.
According to Pohshna, the BJP remains committed to strengthening oversight and monitoring of flagship Central schemes to ensure effective implementation on the ground. He said the party would continue engaging with the government and implementing agencies to identify bottlenecks and facilitate quicker execution of projects.
The BJP leader maintained that every eligible household should receive the benefits of Central welfare programmes without unnecessary delays, adding that improved coordination among stakeholders would be essential for achieving better outcomes.
He said faster implementation of development schemes would not only improve infrastructure and basic services but also enhance healthcare, nutrition and livelihood opportunities, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the state.
