SHILLONG, July 14: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle on Tuesday locked an allegedly unauthorised temple under construction inside the CBI office campus and served a one-week ultimatum to demolish it, warning of intensified agitation if no action is taken.
A KSU delegation led by Central Executive Council Assistant Organising Secretary Jeremiah Pohthmi met the CBI DIG to raise objections. The meeting witnessed a heated exchange but ended without resolution.
Following the meeting, KSU members locked the temple in protest.
Pohthmi said the KSU had previously taken up the issue with CBI officials who assured no further construction. However, it resumed. After a spot inspection found the structure nearing completion, the union locked it.
The KSU demanded demolition or removal within one week, warning of stronger agitation otherwise.
