Meghalaya freedom fighter remembered on 179th death anniv

NONGSTOIN: In commemoration of the 179th death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem, the legend, the Khasi Students Union Nongstoin Circle (KSU) on Thursday donated a cash of Rs. 5000 each to Rev. Wollington Children Home at Nongpyndeng and Green Pasture Children’s Home Pyndengrei.

The function was held at SGSY Hall C&RD Block Nongstion where H R Thabah was the Chief Guest at the function, the function was also attended by John Fisher Nongsiang President of the KSU West Khasi Hills, Davis Goldfield, president KSU Nongstoin Circle, R Byrsat Home Superintendent of Rev S Wollington Children Home Nongpyndeng, and Tbn. A S Dohling General Secretary of the Green Pasture Children’s Home.

Speaking in the meeting Thabah expressed contentment over the establishment of the orphanage centre which has been a blessing for orphans who were facing immense problems for sustaining themselves.

He urged the inmates to live happily and honestly and work hard for a bright future. Thabah also appreciated the work done by the KSU through their helping hand in commemorating the death anniversary of the Khasi legend freedom fighter U Tirot Sing Syiem.
