CJP exposed; Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal instigating students, says Delhi BJP
New Delhi, July 23: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday over students’ protest, saying he takes credit for “going to Mars”, so now it is time for him to take responsibility for his actions.
Speaking with reporters in Parliament House complex, she said the prime minister has posted on social media that he cares for children when just last night he got them “teargassed and beaten up”.
“Have you ever seen in the history of our democracy that MPs from the ruling side are standing outside and protesting. Since how many sessions is this going on and they are not able to run this ( Parliament session). What is happening outside. He is weak and coward,” she said, attacking the prime minister.
“He (PM Modi) takes credit for going to Mars, he takes credit for every achievement which is the achievement of our youth and the achievement of our people. He takes credit, doesn’t he? So now is the time for him to take responsibility for his actions,” Priyanka Gandhi asserted.
“It is him who is getting people beaten up. Under his nose, 152 papers have leaked and there have been zero convictions, who is responsible? If Modi ji is responsible for us going to Mars, if Modi ji is responsible for every achievement that an Indian makes, whether it is in the Olympics or in the Asian games, then Modi ji is responsible for what is happening today,” she said. “Modi ji is responsible for our youth feeling that there is no future, Modi ji is responsible if our children who are demonstrating, he has cut off the internet and he is teargassing them and having them lathi-charged. If something happens to even one of them it is his responsibility,” she asserted.
Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi said students have lost faith in the system.
On the other hand, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra on Thursday claimed that the political connection of the CJP has been exposed, as he accused Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal of “instigating” the students.
‘Any talk in Parl futile with Pradhan in office’
Amid a deadlock between the opposition and the government in Parliament over a discussion on the NEET paper leak issue, the Congress on Thursday said any debate with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan continuing in office would be futile.
The Congress said Pradhan must resign immediately, going by the nationwide sentiment.
Delhi HC to hear PIL seeking probe into protest
The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Friday a public interest litigation seeking a probe into the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest over alleged examination irregularities at Jantar Mantar here.
The counsel for the petitioner mentioned the PIL before a bench of Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia and requested that the case be listed on Friday. “This is against the so-called student agitation. They have made the entire Delhi hostage. Roads have been blocked. Citizens of Delhi are suffering,” lawyer Barun Kumar Sinha submitted.
‘Opp running away from responsibility’
Gujarat BJP chief Jagdish Vishwakarma on Thursday cited alleged exam paper leak incidents in states ruled by the Opposition while asserting that the Narendra Modi government was taking stringent steps to curb such malpractices.
Vishwakarma listed alleged paper leaks and exam irregularities in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab, Kerala and Karnataka, and also slammed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for spreading anarchy.
‘Cong running away from NEET debate’
The BJP slammed the Congress on Thursday over its protests on the NEET paper-leak row, saying the government is ready to discuss the issue in Parliament but it is the opposition that is running away from a debate.
Talking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, BJP president Nitin Nabin also claimed that the opposition is avoiding a discussion on the issue as it knows that in that case, its double standards would be exposed. (PTI)
