LONDON, July 23: Indian-origin politician Kanishka Narayan has retained his position as the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in Andy Burnham’s newly announced cabinet, according to a report by The Indian Express.
Citing BBC News, the report said Narayan, who made history as Wales’ first ethnic minority Member of Parliament, continues in the AI portfolio as Burnham forms his top team following Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation on Monday.
Born in Bihar, India, Narayan moved to Cardiff as a child.
He is among several familiar faces who have been retained in the new cabinet, which combines ministers who served under Starmer with Burnham’s longtime and trusted allies.
As noted in his LinkedIn profile, Kanishka Narayan serves as the Member of Parliament for the Vale of Glamorgan.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford before completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Stanford University. (Agencies)
