EJH man gets 22 years in jail for raping minor

SHILLONG, July 24: The Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills, B. Khriam, has sentenced Jimi Bareh to 22 years of rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a minor.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict.
The case was registered at the Khliehriat Women Police Station in December 2020 and investigated by WPI O. Tyngkan.
Following the completion of the probe, a charge sheet was filed on November 18, 2021.
The judgment, delivered on July 21, 2026, found Bareh guilty under Section 376(2)(f) of the IPC and Sections 5(i)(ii), 5(n), and 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
