Mumbai, July 27: Speculation surrounding Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya’s future has intensified during the Indian Premier League (IPL) off-season, with reports suggesting Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are exploring the possibility of signing the India all-rounder in what could become one of the biggest trades in the tournament’s history.
According to reports, discussions over a potential deal have produced multiple scenarios, although neither franchise has officially commented on the matter.
One proposal reportedly has Mumbai Indians seeking a swap involving CSK batter Shivam Dube and promising youngster Ayush Mhatre in exchange for Hardik. Another version suggests Chennai are unwilling to part with Mhatre and have instead offered Dube, South African batter Dewald Brevis and a cash component of ₹10 crore as part of the deal.
The reported negotiations underline the high value still attached to Hardik despite an underwhelming IPL 2026 campaign. The all-rounder remains one of the few Indian cricketers capable of contributing with both bat and ball while also offering proven leadership qualities.
In contrast, Dube enjoyed a productive season for Chennai, scoring 270 runs at an average of 38.57 and a strike rate of 158.82. He proved particularly effective in the closing overs, where his aggressive batting provided valuable finishing power for CSK. (Agencies)
